Our Purpose

Miinga was founded in 2021 to make support easier to find so that no one has to face hard times alone. What began as an effort to improve access to mental health resources in Nunavut has grown into a broader mission: connecting communities with the services everyone needs to live well.

Built Together

As a non-Indigenous owned business, we created the Miinga app in collaboration with Indigenous communities and people of all backgrounds to reflect the distinct needs of the region. Every feature—from confidentiality to offline access—was designed in consultation with, or in response to feedback from people who use the app.

More Than an App

Miinga partners with community organizations to deliver in-person and online workshops that explore what resources are available and how to access them.

We also offer workshops on topics such as mental health and wellness, staying safe online, suicide intervention, and gender-based violence prevention.

Core Values

Hope

We speak openly about hard realities while always striving for compassion, understanding, and the belief that positive change is possible.

Innovation with Purpose

Innovation is most meaningful when it addresses real problems and has a positive social impact. We focus on innovation that creates value and improves outcomes for the people we serve.

Building on community strengths

Communities possess valuable knowledge, relationships, and resources. Our work acknowledges existing community assets, supports local leadership, and helps communities build on the strengths they already possess.

Collaboration

Our work is guided through partnership and collaboration with stakeholders. We value and incorporate diverse perspectives.

Privacy and Security

We are committed to maintaining strong standards of privacy, security, and confidentiality. Our systems and processes are designed to protect you and your data.
